Today I am 6 years sober…

I came into AARC on October 5th, 2006. I signed myself in shortly after my 18th birthday in desperate need of help. I started using drugs and drinking alcohol when I was 12. In high school I started using harder drugs and began selling to support my habit. I attempted going to AA meetings to get myself on the right path but it wasn’t working.

It was hard to see others around me leading productive lives when I didn’t see myself heading in that direction at all. I heard about AARC through a friend who was a graduate herself, that’s when I decided to sign myself in. Coming into AARC was a huge culture shock and going through step one was the hardest part. Making progress and going through the 12 steps transformed me into who I am today.

Today I am 6 years sober. I have been successful in the career path that I have chosen and I have had some amazing opportunities to travel. I have good relationships with my family and friends now and I could not have done it without the 12 steps and AARC.
